Company History
Alaska National’s home base is Anchorage, Alaska, where we are beginning
our fourth decade of insuring a broad spectrum of Alaska’s leading business
entities- from hospitals, municipalities, native corporations, restaurants,
retail stores and tourist enterprises, to trucking companies, energy services
operations and all types of commercial contractors, large and small.
Throughout the Great State of Alaska, we offer a comprehensive array of
commercial lines insurance products, including state act workers’ compensation,
USL&H Compensation Act, Jones Act, general liability, commercial multi-peril,
commercial auto and umbrella.
In 1990, Alaska National opened its Seattle office, which initially focused
on multi-jurisdiction employee-risk coverages for employers engaged in the
Northwest seafood, marine construction and coastal transportation industries.
The office expanded on its early success by diversifying into other regions and
business segments where our customized services could benefit our larger multi-state
employer-customers’ needs. Over time, the Seattle office developed a Middle Market
underwriting operation to provide a wide range of products and services for companies
located in the Pacific Northwest - from Main Street businesses to senior living centers,
and from artisan contractors to short haul transportation.
In 2000, Alaska National opened its third office, based in San Francisco. The office
was established to support a state act workers’ compensation program for larger California
employers who were seeking a strong risk management approach to occupational exposures.
In 2010, Alaska National reorganized its existing Inland Northwest operations into a
fourth underwriting and service center based in Boise, Idaho. This office services Eastern
Washington, Idaho, Montana and Utah and is providing a full range of Alaska National’s
commercial lines products and services to leading businesses in these areas.
